HEY IT’S GRANDPA. I mean, not really, but that’s the first thing I thought of when I saw it. I don’t know if those lines on its face are supposed to be antennae or a lower eyelid or what, so I interpreted it as a long curly mustache. Because he’s a grandpa, you see.
This looks like a silly robot toy you’d find on the first level of a 2d platformer or something. Like it looks like if you hit it, it’ll pop open and be full of gears and springs. Does it spin around like a top on its oversized stinger? I dunno but it should.
Now this is more like it! It’s a pissed off kiwi with giant eyebrows. Again, it kiiiind of looks like maybe it has three feet, although I know that singular toe hanging off the side is supposed to connect to the foot under its football body. Three legged birds would be cool though.
It’s a kiwi? The wing there looks like a third foot, so I’m gonna say it’s a three-footed kiwi.
IT’S A BIG ANGRY BEARD WITH GOOGLY EYES
Like, what can I say that isn’t already said in those deep, soulful eyes.
It’s a flying mustache with googly eyes. It’s a hovering, unblinking, wobbly octopus-esque mustache with googly eyes. The real 161st Pokemon is Sentret, which is an incredibly common, mundane creature. If you’re ever wandering around Johto and a fleet of goddamn hair squids comes floating at you, shoot them. Don’t ask questions.
IT’S GOT TEETH. AT THE END OF ITS TONGUE. That’s the grossest shit. So anyways, Tongrito is a super gross barnacle who’s probably stoned out of his mind. If I ever dredged this thing out of the sea I’d be terrified. This is why I love the Quartz sprites, they’re so easy to mock for their quality and weirdness but you know if these things were real they’d freak you right the fuck out. These designs are actually really fun and inspired in their own way.
Awesome, it has eyes now! Even better, it has derpy, uneven eyes! So I think I figured out what this is. It’s kind of a clam with a tongue, like Shellder, but the tongue seems to also be a tentacle or a foot, holding the thing up. So my guess is that this line is PROBABLY supposed to be a goose barnacle. That’s actually kind of clever.
